I Chapter

"I lived this life as a child to the skies between the continents, on board an airplane to discover a huge cork city tales of love." (Rafael Coronado)

A week before the discovery of the body of Rafael Coronado, had spread in the palace of a sour smell of rotten lemons. A flock of blue butterflies hovering around the window overlooking the courtyard. A gutter full of greenish lemon juice flowed out from under her door. Endless caravans of black ants drew the loot safely, away from the concerns of the tenants. One morning, when Mrs. Pirattini (the ninth month of pregnancy) put the key in the lock of the door of his house, a reptile of exaggerated size and put it in his eyes, his tongue appeared a couple of times, he turned his forked tail dragging behind, disappearing before flying in front of the door of the tenant. She screamed and then fainted. A smell of rotting corpses mingled exhalation of various organisms in decomposition, alarmed the entire neighborhood. At eleven in the morning the firemen arrived, the administrator and a police car with two officers on board. Firefighters and police were divided into a thorough inspection of the building and eventually found themselves on the third floor to breathe those remote woods and watch the exodus of black ants along that stream of lemon juice that was slowly swelling. They also agreed that things went wrong in one way.

Tenants besieged the entrance and the porter's lodge of the palace. The air smelled of cauliflower, laundry detergent, sweat and tobacco [...]

Interview author Dimitri Ruggeri

How did you come in you the idea of writing a novel?

Before writing you need to discover the pleasure of reading. It 'an educational path that organizes the creative process. People born with artistic gifts precise, go by instinct to seek the means to express themselves. In my case the idea of writing a novel and, in particular, stems from my reading of the classics of Europe.

Why after all these years you've decided to publish?

dreamed of writing a novel and I did not think that would happen only 12 years after my move to Italy. "The house of the lemons" is not the result of a project conceived and planned. The novel had made its way through my cast. I enjoyed every page of his birth. I had almost given up its publication and considering it as a good enough experience. I also had some doubts and a few people I trusted that it has completed a novel written directly in Italian. Left the novel in a drawer until by chance, some friends had read the novel and encouraged to publish it.

The first unpublished version has undergone a major quantitative review. Many parts have been put aside. Why?

It 's true, the novel has been the weight of different calculations. This is the last draft that I think the right to present to readers. The need to cut was based on eradicating invasive my presence as a writer in the fabric of the novel.

The structure of the text and the way you write, often describe the situation as if you were watching a film. What has influenced you the fact of having trained as Director and Writer?

I think it's the opposite. This way of writing has led me to the cinema, I had made it clear that they are able to write for the screen. A novel is made of colors, tastes, moods and characters in conflict. The items are used to this, to stimulate the imagination of the reader, show the world as we see from our point of view.

Who is Rafael Coronado?

Rafael Coronado is a friend of mine. A man who plied the skies between the plane containing a cork board to discover a city of great love stories. There are parts

highly visionary, others incredibly real. Having read it I felt a certain rhythm. E 'intended or accidental? In the chaos at the end I found myself in the cosmos.

"The House of Lemons" is my journey into the real, everyday. I find that our everyday life is full of magic, visions fugitives who drove them away like some bothersome insects, while others embrace as the fortunate inspiration.

Loneliness and homesickness are common elements. Which of your characters is not?

Shukri is the person most aware of his loneliness and his longing. And 'the character that represents the research, the desire to discover, understand and confront his accuser with the Commissioner.

References Babylon and Iraq are very present, all that is autobiographical?

autobiographical parts are present in every novel. And "The House of lemon" is no exception. Certainly there are parts that you autobiographical merged with the facts of the characters. They have become vital parts of some characters. In addition to the facts there are atmospheres that came from Babylon, from the desert, visions experienced in the first person that had emerged at the time of writing in an involuntary

Already I see that your novel for a film developed. E 'feasible?

Sure you can make a film based on "Little House on the lemons." The novel seen through the comments positives that have come so far, all agree on my style tends to write for pictures. This is an important element that helps those who have to co-write the novel and adapt it to the screen.

Breaking down your novel would be a mountain out of aphorisms. How we say hello?

to us little guys, it happens over a lifetime, to spend a moment on the roof of the world. At least once, should we be granted the privilege of seeing up close the driving forces of destiny.
