A third edition of "Open Atelier". The artists open their studios to pubblicola





kicks off Saturday, July 25 the third edition of the exhibition entitled "Open Atelier", a weekend contemporary art, landscape and cuisine from Orvieto, Castel Giorgio Castel Viscardo with ten internationally renowned artists, four of whom live in Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany and the other six (their guests) from Italy, Germany and England. The event is sponsored by the City of Orvieto, will take place on 25 and 26 July 2009, with visits to the workshop will be accompanied by a tasting of wines from the farms, "the national newspaper" and "Wines of Santa Croce."

All artists will be present at the opening on Saturday, July 25 at 11th St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Castel Giorgio. Saturday, 25 workshops, will remain open until 20 and Sunday 26 from 15 to 20.

Ulrich Erben was born in Düsseldorf (Germany) in 1940. Between 1958/1965 he studied at the Academies of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Urbino, Venice, Monaco, Bavaria and Berlin in '67 stays in Italy and in 1974 obtained the prize of the Land Nordrhein-Westfalen. Since 1980 he is professor of painting at Art Academy Düsseldorf, ABTL. Münster and since 1983 member of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Since 1971, conducting a number of solo exhibitions in Germany, Italy, Japan, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, in 1977 he exhibited at Documenta 6 in Kassel in 2003 and was awarded the Otto-Ritschl-Preis. He lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany and Bagnoregio

Christoph Brech was born in 1964 in Schweinfurt (Germany). Between 1989/1995 he studied at the Akademie der Künste Bildenden Monaco of Bavaria where he became an assistant in 1998/2001, so in the period 2003/2004 is fellow of the Conseil des Arts du Quebec. In 2005 he award Art Junge Kunst und Neue Medien the city of Monaco of Bavaria, in 2006 Fellow of the German Academy Villa Massimo in Rome, and Will-Grohmann-Preis and the Akademie der Künste Berlin in 2009, "Franz-Ludwig-Catel -Preis "for his book Rome - Photo Diary. His work encompasses the fields of video art, photography and art in public space. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and projects in Europe, Canada and the USA. He lives and works in Monaco of Bavaria

CHRISTOPH M. GAIS was founded in 1951 in Stuttgart (Germany), between 1978/1981 he studied painting at the Staatliche Akademie der Künste Bildenden then moved to the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin in 1981/1983. In 1984 and 1988 he won two scholarships studio to work in Berlin, where in 1992 he obtained the prize of art city of Berlin. In 1994/1995 is a visiting professor in Mainz (Germany). Since 1980, conducting a number of exhibitions and art projects in Germany, Italy, England, Canada, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. He lives and works in Torre San Severo, near Orvieto and Berlin.

Timo Kahlen was born in 1966 in Berlin (Germany) where he was trained at the Hochschule der Künste in the period 1985/1994. It 'was the fellow at the Eurocréation / Pepiniéres Paris and then at the Karl-Hofer-Gesellschaft in Berlin where he was also Professor of Visual Media / Video Art at the Hochschule der Künste, has worked in Washington DC Arts Center (USA) and Berlin for the "Phos phorus Photo graphy. In 2006 he was selected for the prize Sound Art Prize, Skulpturenmuseum Marl in 2007 and was Artistic Advisor to the Multi Media Arts Gandhi Museum in New Delhi in India. Last year he participated in Manifesta 7: Scenarios, Fortezza / Franzens parties. Since 1987 he has made numerous exhibitions, installations and sculptures working with sound, wind and light, experimental work, and work with various media. Lives and works in Berlin.

Susanne Kessler was born in 1955 in Wuppertal (Germany). In the period 1975/1983 he studied painting and graphic art at the Hochschule der Künste (UdK) in Berlin and attended the Royal College of Art in London. He worked in Paris and New and obtained prizes Strecker-Paul-Preis (Mainz) and Kaiser ring-Stipendium (Goslar). It 'been Artist in Residence for the Goethe-Institut Lahore in Pakistan and Fadjr Festival in Tehran in Iran, and lecturer at California State University, Stanislaus (USA), also participated in the Viewing Program and Artist Talks series of The Drawing Center in New York. The past year has been Artist in Residence at the John Jay College of City University of New York. Since 1981 has produced exhibitions and art projects in Germany, Italy, England, France, Denmark, India, Pakistan, Iran, Latvia and the USA. He lives and works in Rome and Orvieto.

GISELA KLEINLEIN was born in Nuremberg (Germany) in 1955 where he studied at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Liche Staat, he completed his studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Staat Liche. In the period 1985/1986 was fellow of the DAAD in the Netherlands in 1986 and still Scholar Kunstfonds eV in Bonn. Nell'1989 / 90 he won the Villa Romana in Florence Art and Art Prize of the Land Nordrhein-Westfalen. Professor Cassel and the Düsseldorf Art Academy, since 1999, teaches at the University of Wuppertal Fach Bereich. Since 1991 he has produced numerous exhibitions and art projects in Germany, Austria, Moscow, Belgium, Switzerland. Lives and works in Berlin and Düsseldorf

ALF LOHR born in 1957 in Bochum in Germany and studied painting at the Kunst Akademie in Düsseldorf during the period 1979/1983, and 1985/1988 at the Royal College of Art in London. Since 1983, conducting a number of exhibitions and art projects in Germany, England and Australia. Lives and works in London.

MAGNONI Theodosius was born in 1934 in Offanengo (CR) and attended the course in painting at the Carrara parallel to the Mosaic School in Ravenna. In 1959, after a long stay in Switzerland, Spain, Sweden and moved to Rome, then in 1982 moved to Sutri (VT) where he lives and works. In 1965 he achieved a first solo exhibition at Galleria La Salita in Rome since 1972 and every year he exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, Switzerland.

Marino Moretti was born in Orvieto in 1965 and began here in 1979 his artistic career as a potter, experimenting with various techniques such as majolica, Buccheri, glazes, different techniques of surface decoration on pottery and refractory clays. In 1982 he made his first personnel of Orvieto from 1983 and takes part in numerous exhibitions and art projects in Italy, Australia, Canada and the U.S. He lives and works in Viceno.

LISA WADE was born in 1972 in Washington (USA) and in 1994 took a degree in Studio Art (BFA) at Wheaton College in Illonois. Between 1991/2001 and Masters of Fine Art in Painting at the American University of Rome, Corciano and Washington. Since 2000 he lives and works in Italy, where the artistic side by side in their research collaboration with a sculptor and teaching techniques at various American universities. Since 2000, he made numerous exhibitions and art projects in USA, Canada, Russia and Italy. He lives and works in Todi. Share
